Educators, Boost Your Teaching with OpenAI's ChatGPT Guide!

OpenAI has produced a fantastic guide "Teaching with AI" to help teachers use ChatGPT in their classrooms. A treasure trove of information for educators, the guide includes prompt ideas, an explanation of how ChatGPT works, information on the effectiveness of AI detectors, and a discussion of the potential for bias in ChatGPT's output.

The guide also includes an FAQ section with additional information for educators, such as how to get started with ChatGPT, how to use it for assessment and feedback, and how to ensure that students are using it safely and responsibly.

Elevate Your Career Prospects with the Art of Prompt Engineering

MIT Professor and EdX founder, Anant Agarwal, recommends learning prompt engineering, the skill of refining and inputting text commands for generative AI programs, to give your career a boost.

You can learn the basics in just two hours, and there are free online resources to help. This skill is in high demand, with freelancers earning up to $100 for five prompts and six-figure salaries for full-time jobs. So, if you're interested in future-proofing your career, it's worth a look! 😊

ChatGPT can now generate images!

Guess what? ChatGPT, the AI chatbot, has a cool new talent! The new feature lets users create images from text descriptions. The feature is still under development, but it has the potential to revolutionise the way we create and consume content. DALL-E 3, lets users generate images with more detail and nuance than before.

You could ask it to write and illustrate a children’s bedtime story from a few simple prompts. But it’s not just about fun and games. This could also help with more complex tasks that need specific visuals.

It’s important to note that this new feature is only available for paying users.

Deepfakes: AI-powered impersonators are a new threat to your bank account

Deepfakes, those sneaky AI-generated fake videos, are causing headaches, especially for banks. These tricky videos are becoming more sophisticated and easier to make, and they're posing a new threat to banks and their customers.

The number of deepfakes has exploded online, making some detection tools less effective. But here's the good news: facial recognition systems are getting smarter at spotting these fakes. So, as the bad guys get craftier, our defences are getting stronger! 🕵️‍♂️👍

What is an LLM?

Large language models (LLMs) are a type of AI system trained on massive amounts of text data to generate human-like language. LLMs like GPT-3 learn the statistical patterns between words to make predictions and generate fluent, coherent text.

While skilled at natural language processing, LLMs currently lack true comprehension capabilities. Their predictive power makes them useful for applications like chatbots, summarization, and translation.

The goal is to eventually combine LLMs with other techniques to produce AI that can truly understand language.

Microsoft just announced their AI companion - Copilot launching in Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Edge and Bing.

Copilot is an AI companion that aims to change how we interact with technology. It understands natural language, uses context for better assistance, prioritizes privacy and security, and integrates seamlessly into Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and web browsers. It will start rolling out on Windows 11 from Sept. 26 and will expand to more platforms soon. The enterprise version will be available from Nov. 1, 2023.

Jargon Smasher

Machine learning

Think about Netflix and how it suggests movies you might like. It does this by looking at what you've watched before and what other people with similar tastes have watched. It learns from all that information to make better movie suggestions.

Machine learning is a way for computers to learn from examples and data without being explicitly programmed, making them better at doing all sorts of tasks, like predicting what you might want to watch or buy online.
